The Planning Application

Redrow Homes has submitted a planning application for the regeneration of the Alton Estate. The hybrid planning application seeks part outline and part detailed planning permission for the phased demolition of existing buildings and structures and the mixed-use development of a 12.5-hectare site. The proposed development ranges from 1-9 storeys above ground level including up to 1,108 new homes and 9,377 square metres (GIA) of new and replacement community facilities and flexible commercial floorspace. The proposed scheme also proposes extensive landscaping, the removal and replacement of trees, improvements to the public realm, improvements to access, the relocation of a bus turnaround area and improvements to children’s play facilities. A new energy centre will also be provided, with an associated rooftop plant enclosure.
