Future

The Alton regeneration will deliver contemporary homes for existing and new residents, two new community centres with fantastic facilities, public realm improvements and a better connected estate with improved links and pedestrian and cycle routes. 

Block A

Block A is part of the future plans for the development. This Block will provide:

  • 40 homes in total (2-bed, 3-bed and 4-bed)
  • 35 homes for social rent
  • 5 shared equity homes
  • Private balconies with every property
  • Access to a large courtyard garden for all residents

Block A will also be in a central location, adjacent to the new Village Square, with easy access to shops and community facilities.

Block A Layout Level 0

  • A new bespoke split level library for all ages
  • Cafe area spilling out onto Village Square
  • Vibrant entrance area to host a variety of events and exhibitions, including arts and cultural activities
  • Designated spaces for community and voluntary groups for an assortment of activities
  • Quiet study areas for all ages with informal meeting booths and group working spaces
  • General information and communication technology (ICT) area

Block A Layout Level 1

  • Space for a modern health facility with direct access from Holybourne Avenue and Hersham Close
  • Informal BASE Youth Club space for socialising, relaxing and meeting friends
  • Spaces for group and individual study, as well as to meet mentors
  • Media room with music and film facilities
  • Flexible spaces for advice and support workshops
  • Large sub-divisible community hall with dedicated entrance designed to accommodate a range of activities
  • Welfare and storage facilities
  • A kitchen area

BLOCK O

Block O is also in the plans for the Alton Estate redevelopment and will provide:

  • Access to a large courtyard garden for all residents

Block O Layouts

Ground Floor

Block O will provide a new Co-op supermarket and pharmacy at the ground floor level.

Level 2

On level two a replacement office for the council's housing team will be provided.

There will also be affordable work space for small businesses, spaces for voluntary sector organisations and those offering services to the community.

BLOCK Q

Block Q will provide 121 homes in total. This will be inclusive of:

  • 1-bed, 2-bed, 3-bed and 4-bed
  • 72 homes for social rent
  • 18 shared equity homes
  • 31 shared ownership homes
  • Private balconies with every property

Block Q resisidents will also have access to a large courtyard space with playspace. The location will also provide direct access to Downshire Field.
